Uganda Cranes 2 - 1 Zanzibar
The Third placed 2010 Cecafa have upsetted the hosts Zanzibar at home in close to 1,000 fans but that did not stop Uganda Cranes to capatalize on their last two games played both in Morocco and Sudan which they won and both were away from home. Bobby Wiliamson the national team coach has promised Uganda Cranes fans to put behind the AFCON 2012 upset aside and work together with a much younger team to prepare for the next Africa Cup and World Cup qualifiers.
Mike Sserumagga back with a bang
The skilled Mike Sserumagga who was sidelined by his former team Bunamwaya by then the club owner and the FUFA President Mulindwa sidelined him from the national team for close to a year but he was surprisingly returned on the team this year when Uganda was facing Kenya at home in an East African derby that was supposed to be must win for Uganda but turned to be a sorrowful result in a 0-0 result.
The left footed player today showed the world of his skill in football as he partnered with Emmanual Okwi another young player that plays his football in Tanzania for Simba SC. The pair exhibited good football with the help of both Dan Wagaluka and Malouda from both wings.
After Dan Wagaluka missed several chances that were created by Mike Sserumagga and Emmanuel Okwi, he never missed this chance in the 40th minute created by Mike Sserumagga from the left side of the wing. The flying right wing midfielder did what everyone expected of him to do and he delivered a brilliant finish for Uganda Cranes to make it 1 - 0.
The Zanzibar team responded with brilliant play three minutes after the Uganda Cranes goal but Ali Badull Ali who did what any good striker would do by scoring of one the beautiful goals of this game. Ali was active before the end of the first half.
Both teams missed out on many chances but later in the late second half Mike Sserumaga delivered a stunning shot with his left foot that earned Uganda Cranes three points in the CECAFA Cup against the host Zanzibar.
Uganda Cranes possessed the game for the remainder of the second half from good play Malouda and Moses Oloya exhibited good play.
