Uganda's Kipsiro completes long-distance double on track

Uganda's Moses Kipsiro spoiled Kenya's party by adding the Commonwealth Games 10,000m gold medal to the 5,000m one he already has.

The Kenyans were widely tipped to win the race but Kipsiro had other ideas, sticking to their heels before an audacious last lap sprint to claim the title in a time of 27:57.39.

It was a long way off Kenenisa Bekele's world record but enough to pip Kenya's charging Daniel Salel and another Kenyan, Joseph Birech, for the top step of the podium.

The softly-spoken Ugandan, who received a phone call from his president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni after his 5,000m triumph, has emerged as a real star in New Delhi and one of the few men able to tame Kenya's distance runners.
