Furious Floyd blasts

FLOYD MAYWEATHER and Shane Mosley had to be dragged apart during their first pre-fight press conference.
The duo are set to collide at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 1.

But they threatened to make an early start after a head-to-head clash in New York yesterday.

A furious Mayweather said: "Our noses touched. I don't mind the trash talking but he grabbed my hands.

"I said, 'Don't put your hands on me'. I pushed him away.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER proved size matters when he smashed his way to a unanimous points win over Juan Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

And 'Money' blasted his critics for not getting the credit he feels his unblemished record deserves following his 40th straight win at the MGM Grand Hotel.

Ricky Hatton suffers a second-round knockout

Ricky Hatton suffered a devastating second-round defeat in his IBO light-welterweight world title bout against Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas.

Hatton, 30, was knocked down by a flashing right hook in the first round before being floored again by a left shortly before the bell.

Mancunian Hatton was pole-axed by a huge left in the second and counted out with one second remaining in the round.

And the defeat puts Hatton's future in the sport in doubt.

Floyd Mayweather Snr believes it is time for Ricky Hatton to retire.

The trainer, who was rumoured to have fallen out with the Hitman on the eve of his fight with Manny Pacquiao, delivered the damning verdict minutes after his fighter was knocked out cold.

Hatton was floored twice in the first round before being caught by a vicious left hook at the end of the second and had to be helped from the ring.

But as he headed to hospital for a check-up, Mayweather Snr was calling for his man to hang up the gloves.

"I would suggest he retire," he said. "At the end of the day it's his decision."

"He tried twice. He failed twice. He lost to my son and to lose to someone below that, it's time to leave the ring.

"He made a good profit. Sometimes you have to go when your prime is still there.

Mayweather's comments will do little to dispel the reports that he is going to split with Hatton after just two fights in charge.

Hatton meanwhile assured his thousands of fans that he was fine before heading off to a nearby hospital for tests.

"I didn't see the shot coming," he said. "But I will be OK."

Uganda's blind boxer

For many Ugandans, boxing is their national sport. The East African country has produced world-class fighters, but many of the toughest aren't prepared to step into the ring with Bashir Ramathan -- even though he is blind

What do you think of his determination? To me he is a really star!
