Adele Album Sales: '21' Passes 9 Million Mark In The U.S.

Adele can't be stopped.

The soulful singer's chart-topping sophomore album 21 has now sold over 9 million copies in the States. Adding to Adele's long list of accomplishments, 21 will reach rare RIAA diamond sales status once it passes the extremely rare 10 million mark.

In April, the British songstress recently revealed that she will release a new song this year, 2012.

"There will be a new song, probably coming out at the end of the year," Adele told RFJ, a French Radio station. "But then it depends how quickly I write some other new songs."

Adele was quick to shoot down claims that there might be a new album to accompany the 2012 single. "It won't be for a good two years ... I have to write it. It takes a while." However, rumour has it her label XL is planning to release a special edition of her chart-topping, record-breaking album with a few new tracks, just in time for Christmas.

According to the Daily Sun Sunday the re-release could potentially help 21 surpass Queen's Greatest Hits to become the U.K.'s biggest selling albums of all time. Adele's sophomore album recently passed Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in the UK Album sales, firmly planting 21 at No. 5 on the U.K.'s all-time biggest selling albums list.

Could this be what Adele was referring to when she mentioned that there would be a new song in 2012? Or could the singer be referencing the rumored she is recording to the upcoming James Bond 077 movie, "Skyfall"?

Even if Adele doesn't release a new album for a few years, 21 shows no signs of fading away any time soon. The album spent 23 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 and currently holds Number 2 at the 200 Billboard , selling 101,000 copies this week.

Adele's 21 has never left the Billboard 200 top 10 charts in its entire 63-week run.

‘Ogenze ‘- Bebe tells Bobi

SINGER Bebe Cool has said Bobi Wine is all talk and no action. Bebe is responding to Bobi’s statement last week, in which Bobi promised to use lyrical power to punch Bebe to tears at their forthcoming concert Battle of the Champions, slated for next Friday at Kyadondo Rugby grounds.

We asked Bebe to comment about Bobi’s statement and the show where the two will be pitted against each other on the same stage. “Bobi Wine talks a lot, but let’s wait for action come May 4.

Revellers will get to know firsthand who the best artiste in the country and the teacher of numerous artistes in and around the country is,” bragged Bebe.

Meanwhile, Bobi’s facebook status earlier this week read: “ Time Out! Don’t say I never warned you. Ladies and gentlemen, grace yourselves for lyrical warfare.”

Bebe and Bobi used to be friends until they fell out about two years ago, the real bone of contention is known only to them. Now each has a song dissing the other. We cannot wait to see what goes down at this concert.

Adele, Rihanna, Lil Wayne Lead 2012 Billboard Music Awards Finalists

Speaking of Rihanna, the pop superstar is a finalist in 13 categories this year, after leading the pack with 18 category appearances in 2011. Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne each snagged a spot in 10 categories, and will both compete against Adele, Rihanna and Katy Perry for the prestigious Top Artist prize. And the Top New Artist category features a diverse collection of fresh talent, with Bad Meets Evil, Big Sean, Foster The People, Scotty McCreery and Wiz Khalifa serving as the 2012 finalists.

The awards will reflect Billboard's chart rankings based on key fan interactions with music, including album sales and downloads, track downloads, radio airplay and touring as well as streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Vevo, Youtube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound. The awards will be based on the reporting period of March 1, 2011 through February 29, 2012. Top artists will be recognized in a variety of genres, including R&B, Rap, Pop, Country, Rock, Latin and Alternative.

Today, Billboard launches a microsite for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards at Billboard.com/BBMA that offers up-to-the-minute updates about the upcoming ceremony. Music fans can also follow news about the show and related events on Twitter at @Billboard or on Facebook.

Tickets for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards are now on sale at Ticketmaster.com and MGMGrand.com. The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be co-executive produced by Richard D. Beckman, CEO of Prometheus Global Media and Don Mischer Productions.
