Matthias Walukaga realeased on bail

After being arrested and detained at Luziira prison on Monday, the Kadongo kamu star was granted bail on Wednesday as his Case with Salongo Samona Kasawuli kicked off at Makindye court.

At court, he was received by thousands of fans who were singing  the most honored Kitibwa kya Buganda. When the court started hearing the case, Elias Lukwago who stood in for Matthias immediately requested for his bail arguing that Walukaga was Ugandan with a clean past and thus he had all the constitutional rights for getting released on bail.

Lukwago also said that he (Walukaga) had presented himself to the police and thus being a law abiding citizen. Such empirical facts from council Lukwago amused the Judge who decided to grant Walukaga bail. Those that seconded his bail included Mesearch Semakula, Musa Kavuma (Eagles production) and Karim Lukooda.

Matthias Walukaga who is famously known for his Tulepuke song that saw the artiste scoop most of the awards in the 2009 golden awards which were organized by Abitex, has been put in prison following the accusations from the Samona boss like spoiling his reputation and the image of his business.

Walukaga earlier accused the Samona boss for splitting up their relationship. Later, the kadongo Kamu artiste came up with songs like “Tulepuke” and “Bwino wo mutembeyi” that are believed to have been hiting at the Samona boss and his business. However, Samona who is currently married to Walukaga’s former girl friend couldn’t handle the humiliation from the artiste hence referring the case to the courts of law where the artiste was proved guilty.

He was sentenced to seven years in Luzira prison and his songs have been banned. Even so, other artistes have promised to protest over Walukaga’s imprisonment and traffickers’ of his music albums are seeking for compensation after being ceased by the Mengo court.
