Soul singer Michael Kiwanuka has come top of the BBC Sound of 2012 list, which aims to showcase the best rising music stars for the year ahead.

Michael Kiwanuka is a British soul musician of Ugandan heritage who is signed to Communion Records. He has been compared to Bill Withers and Otis Redding, as well as Van Morrison and the Temptations. His parents are from Uganda. On 6 January 2012, the BBC announced that he had won the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll.

Juliana collaborates with Congolese Alicios

Uganda and East Africa’s songbird Juliana Kanyomozi, who recently released a patriotic music video titled "I am Ugandan" and a duet "My Lady remix" with America based Ghanian Jay Ghartey, has yet again featured in another music video titled "Mpita njia" with a new East and Central African Sensation Alicios Theluji.

Peter Miles (real names Kanyike) announced that he recorded a duet with Elephant Man (born O'Neil Bryan) "Energy god" for his upcoming International album. Peter Miles announced his mystery duet partner via Facebook this week.

“The Next Big Thing” Tshila Namboozo

The BBC World Service had a talent search called “The Next Big Thing” in which they named Tshila as one of the 20 best unsigned artists in the world. Her music was complimented by one of the judges as being “a perfect soundtrack to nice summer day” and “delightful”. A judge reviewed her song “Namboozo” and said “the mix of traditional African sounds with poetry and hip-hop works perfectly for Tshila” and “overall a conscious, upbeat vibe and the most original song in this competition”.

2011 Pam Award winner for Best Hip hop song "How we do it Remix", has yet again won another accolade in South Africa.

Iryn Namubiru Wins PAMA Artiste Of The Year 2011

Iryn Namubiru won the Artist of the Year award at the Pearl of Africa Music Awards held at UMA Show ground Lugogo on Nov. 05, and picked up Female of the Year, Album of the Year and RnB Single honors for Birowoozo. 2010 Artiste of the Year Bebe cool garnered two awards, including Male Artiste of the Year and Reggae Artist of the Year. Navio records Collabos with Mr Flavor and MadTraxx

Most Nominated artiste in the Channel O music Video Awards Daniel Lubwama Kigozi Alias Navio is to release a new track Kenyan artistes.

The song which was recorded in Nairobi while on his East African Tour with Mr Flavor is titled "All the way to the bank" Featuring Madtraxx and ZUES. While On the same tour, Navio managed to do a collaboration with the 'Ashawo star' Mr Flavor which is slated to be released towards the end of this year.

Sean Kingston holds a successful first concert in Uganda

Jamaican musician Sean Kingston yesterday held a concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval that attracted thousands of fun. Gates opened as early as 5pm and the show which had been postponed once, was packed to capacity. Security was tight with over 700 police officer deployed to man the Cricket grounds.

Vampino and Mr Flavor (Ashawo) to record duet

Ashawo star, Mr Flavor is to enter recording booth with dancehall artiste Elvis Kirya aka Vampino and make a duet with the Ugandan artiste. They will work on the collaborative project at Fenon records during Mr Flavor's stay in Uganda for the "Sean Kingston Concert" where he will curtain raise for the Jamaican artiste with other artistes like La'myia Good, AY, Navio

Atlas to release a mixtape album with Akon's DJ Benny D

Ugandan hip-hop artiste Eddie Atlas who is currently promoting his new music video “I’m doing me’ across the African continent, is doing a mix tape album "MAKE MUSIC NOT WAR" with Akon’s DJ Benny D. This will be his second music project with Akon’s Konvict music after the release of “One step way” a song he did with UK rapper Sway, Navio, Blu3 and DJ Benny D.

Atlas, who is soon dropping a duet with Luga-flow artiste Rocky Giant, is also having a music project with American rapper Black rob famously known for his hit single "Whoa!".

Maurice Kirya takes over Kampala Serena Hotel with his mega Concert

Maurice Kirya's self-sponsored Concert "Maurice Kirya Live in Kampala Concert" which took place on a Friday night, September 2nd at Kampala Serena must be the best live concert in Uganda.

Maurice, who is currently enjoying the International recognition, after winning international awards and having international media interviews with Voice of America, Radio France, CNN and BBC, held his first concert that was slated to have only 500 people at Ugsh50,000 and indeed it was greatly attended.

Mackenzie selected as a judge for 2011 Channel O Awards

Uganda’s Radio City DJ, Bryan Mackenzie, the former Hot 100 DJ and music director, has been selected as a judge for the 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards in which two Ugandan musicians Navio and Keko were nominated.
Mackenzie, together with other renowned DJs selected from the African continent who not only play the music, but also a presenter of a local music show ‘Jam Agenda’  on WBS TV, will be involved in this year's nominees' selection process. Mackenzie beat DJ Apeman and Bush Baby to take the slot.

Davis to perform alongside American rapper EVE, Shaggy and Cobo Snoop in October

The winners of the Tusker All Stars reality television show that aims at nurturing and promoting local music talent in East Africa, will be jamming the stage with the three international stars to officially mark the end of the show. The winners of the concluded show were Alpha, Davis and Msechu.

2011 Tusker Project edition featured eight most popular and astounding contestants from the past tusker project four seasons.

Juliana and Keko win EMAs (East Africa Music Awards)

Princess Juliana and Keko Town who were among the other Ugandan artistes like Bebe cool, Maurice Kirya, and Goodlyfe duo of Moze Radio and Weasel that were nominated for the 2011 First annual East Africa awards that were held in Nairobi Kenya emerged winners.
