Milwall Park Albion (3) vs London Cranes FC (2)
The Cup Kings lost Premier Division Cup Final after a strong fight with their rivals, Milwall Park . The final results were far from the real story and performance displayed by London Cranes FC.
Cranes conceded an early goal after a certainly controversial penalty decision made the Mr Referee Keith Murray. This was the first of numerous dubious refereeing decisions made on the day, making you wonder what can really make a man (Mr Referee) sink this low.
After this early goal the team tried to reorganise and gain their composer, only to be let down by the goalkeeper,A.Mwambala (on the left) then he spilled what seemed to be a simple ball. Sular Kasule (Right-back) who later proved very effective up front cleared the ball off the line and also blocked the follow up, but could not reach it on the third time of asking, giving Milwall two goal lead after just 17 minutes.
The Cranes tried to fight back only to be denied by brilliant goal keeping. They (Mathew) hit the cross-bar twice just before the half-time whistle. In the second ha lf as Milwall looked to be cruising to victory the Cranes went into a high gear, regaining their composer, pass the ball more accurately.
Sular’s switching from right-back to striking position replacing Mboma up front proved more effective. He troubled Milwall defence with his pace and quick thinking, at the end earning penalty when he was fouled in the box.The penalty was beautifully converted by the goalkeeper Arthur to make it 2-1. This put a different spin on the game. Cranes was making attack after and attack. Captain Jowaski & N icholas were now showing excellent leading from the defence, allowing L'cranes to start its attack from the back.
On the 85th minute Ismail equalised with a super volley from Bright's Beautiful cross, to make it 2-2. Milwall looked confused and disillusioned. They saw the repeat of last season when Cranes came back from 1-0 in the last minute to win the cup final 3-2.
The drums erupted and Cranes supporter were louder than never, dancing and singing, their noise was well over the decibel scale. At the end of 90 minutes every body knew its just a matter of time before the cranes scores that decisive goal.
However there was more drama to come from Mr Referee, 5 minutes into the first half of extra-time he sent Cranes’s Left-back Steve Sebugwawo for kicking the ball towards the goal keeper. Then 4 minutes into the final half extra time he sent Ismail off, for what he claimed to a handball. This left Cranes with nine men but still with a lot of ball possession. With four minutes to go he gave Milwall a dubious free-kick, which the Cranes defence failed to clear with tired legs and ended up in the back of the net. This made it 3-2 on the final whistle.
